AmeriCorps Compliance Coordinator (Reno, NV)

Job Description:

The Compliance Coordinator will join Great Basin Institute (GBI) prepared to be part of the team at a fast-paced, environmental non-profit organization. This position is responsible for all aspects of AmeriCorps and program compliance as it relates to policies and procedures, paperwork/file processing, performance measure/participation tracking, and reporting for GBI’s (1) State and (2) Education Award AmeriCorps programs. The Compliance Coordinator will work closely with Nevada Conservation Corps and Research Associate Program Directors to develop and maintain compliance tracking and auditing systems in accordance with AmeriCorps program guidelines.

Essential Functions and Duties:

Collect, file, and track all new AmeriCorps Volunteer paperwork;
Monitor completion of AmeriCorps Criminal History Check requirements and ensure compliance with start dates;
Track AmeriCorps Volunteers through their service term in order to enroll them, initiate evaluations, suspend terms as necessary, and exit members in compliance with standards and procedures;
Ensure compliance with file audit guidelines;
Enroll and exit members in the eGrants system; and
Monitor completion of bi-weekly service logs (review for errors and request corrections).
Update new member paperwork and resource documents as necessary, generate new member contracts, distribute all new member paperwork;
Ensure compliance with internal HR and grantor/partner standards and procedures;

Assist with program and organizational reporting; and
Perform other tasks/ projects/operations as assigned.

Contract Timeline:

• Start Date: Upon availability for an annual appointment
• Full time, minimum of 40 hours per week

Location:

This position will be based out of GBI’s northern Nevada office in Reno, NV. The “Biggest Little City in the World”, Reno has an estimated population of just over 230,000; the greater Reno-Sparks metropolitan area has a population of just over 435,000. The city sits in a high desert at ca. 4,500 feet in elevation, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains along the Truckee River, as it flows from Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake. Weather is mild, with four distinct seasons. Reno offers easy access to world-class outdoor recreation, with a 3- to 5-hour drive to Yosemite and Death Valley National Parks, the Pacific Ocean, and California redwood forests. Closer to home, Nevada boasts more natural hot springs than any other state in the country, over 150 named mountain ranges, and 30 mountain peaks over 11,000 feet. In Reno, recreation and entertainment includes eight major ski resorts within 2 hours of the Reno-Tahoe airport; fishing and boating on Lake Tahoe, the Truckee River, and Pyramid Lake; minor league baseball with the Reno Aces (the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks); cultural festivals throughout the summer along the banks of the Truckee River; and a small but growing collection of craft microbreweries and micro-distilleries. Compensation and Benefits:

• Rate of Pay: $16.35/hour or commensurate with experience
• Paid Health/Dental/Vision Coverage (first day of month following 60 days of employment)
• Accrued Personal Leave (after 90 days probation)

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field;
Previous experience with or knowledge of the AmeriCorps program, preferably administering a State Program or Education Award Program;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive;
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated experience handling multiple priorities;
Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
Acute attention to detail;
Ability to work under limited supervision;
Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills;
Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment, and to consistently enact high performance standards and a strong work and team ethic in support of the mission of GBI; and
Experience working with non-profit organizations and/or federal or state agencies preferred.
